You Have No Idea Of What You Are Asking.

by | Aug 20, 2018

You have no idea what you’re asking.

“Jesus responded, “You have no idea what you’re asking.” And he said to James and John, “Are you capable of drinking the cup that I’m about to drink?” They said, “Sure, why not?”” Matthew 20:22 MSG)

The mother of the Zebedee brothers had come to ask Jesus “Give your word that these two sons of mine will be awarded the highest places of honor in your kingdom, one at your right hand, one at your left hand.” And He told her that she has no idea of the prayer request she was making.

Do you fully understand the prayer requests that you are asking God?

Many of us base our prayer request to God on logic and permutation of what we can see just as the “caring” mother had done.

You should not just ask God anything.

The Bible says we don’t receive answers to our prayers because we not only do not have an idea or proper understanding of our request but sometimes we ask entirely off the target.

“[Or] you do ask [God for them] and yet fail to receive because you ask with wrong purpose and evil, selfish motives. Your intention is [when you get what you desire] to spend it in sensual pleasures.” James 4:2-3 (AMPC)

God assures us that whatever we ask in line with His Word we will undoubtedly receive the answer.

What is the real motive behind your prayer requests?.

Ask yourself again today do you have an idea of what you are asking God to do? ??.

Search the scriptures and have a proper understanding of what you are asking God for and you will according to God’s promises receive an answer to your request.

Jesus replied, “You don’t know what you are asking.”

Do You?
