“And he said this plainly. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. But turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.” Mark 8:32-33
What type of influence are you making now in your area of opportunity?
Peter was influential in the team of Jesus Christ to the extent that he could pull Jesus aside to chip in a word on the current situation.
Of course this particular advice was from his head not from God.
What is the source of your advice on your area of influence?
Do you give advice from a selfish beneficial viewpoint or you genuinely give the total counsel of God ?
There was another unique occasion where Peter spoke by the inspiration of God and said the right response to the Lord.
Let’s always check the advice that we give people under our influence that they are genuinely from God.
As someone that receives advice or listen to people you have to identify the source of the counsel you are being given.
In this instance our Lord was able to instantly know where Peter’s counsel was coming from.
Always take time to check from God what advice you should follow.
Remember when Jethro the father in law of Moses visited him he gave him counsel on delegation. However he asked him to check with God first before implementing the advice that he gave him.
“If you do this and God so commands, you will be able to stand the strain, and all these people will go home satisfied.”Exodus 18:23
We should always check with God what is influencing us or what influences are we impacting on people
Watch what influence you bring to the people in your domain and watch how you are influenced too.
