What Type of Influence Are You?
“And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him and began to rebuke him.  But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.” (Mark 8:32, 33) KJV
What type of influence are you making now in your area of opportunity?
Peter was influential in the team of Jesus Christ to the extent that he could pull Jesus aside to give Him a word on the current situation.
Of course, this particular advice was from his head, not from God.
What is the source of your guidance on your area of influence?
Do you give information from a selfish beneficial viewpoint, or do you genuinely give the total counsel of God?
There was another unique occasion where Peter spoke by the inspiration of God and gave the right response to the Lord.
Always check the advice that you provide to people under your influence that they are genuinely from God.
As someone that receives advice or listen to people, you have to identify the source of the counsel you are being given.
In this instance, our Lord was able to know where Peter’s counsel was coming from instantly.
Always take time to check from God what advice you should follow.
Remember when Jethro the father in law of Moses visited him, he gave him counsel on delegation. However, he asked him to check with God first before implementing the advice that he gave him.
“If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all these people shall also go to their place in peace.” (Exodus 18:23)
We should always check with God what is influencing us or what influences are we having on other people
Pay attention to the impact you have on the people in your domain.
Watch how you are influenced too.
