Tell me Straight.
“And now if ye will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me: and if not, tell me; that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left.” Genesis 24:49 (KJV)
Tell me straight is what Eliezer (Abraham’s Servant} asked Laban and his family concerning Rebekah, the spouse God has just led him to find for Isaac.
Our world is full of double talk, and you find this anomaly amongst church people too.
Maybe Eliezer had discerned that Laban could be a con master as he later dealt with Jacob with several double-dealings.
Do you talk straight?
Is your word your bond?
Do you talk both to the right and left and your hearers and followers are confused as to what you are saying?
The Bible says let your Yes be Yes, and your NO be NO.
Some Bible teachers are so political that they will give you every other opinion and authorities on the subject except what the Biblical stand is.
“And don’t say anything you don’t mean. This counsel is embedded deep in our traditions. You only make things worse when you lay down a smoke screen of pious talk, saying, ‘I’ll pray for you,’ and never doing it, or saying, ‘God be with you,’ and not meaning it. You don’t make your words true by embellishing them with religious lace. In making your speech sound more religious, it becomes less true. Just say ‘yes’ and ‘no.’ When you manipulate words to get your own way, you go wrong.” Matthew 5:33-3 7 The Message (MSG)
Be a reliable person that can always point people in the right direction.
Paul says follow me as I follow Christ. No confusion in Paul understanding Christ.
God has assured you HE will never leave you confused.
” And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:21 (KJV)
“Let gentleness be seen in every relationship, for our Lord is ever near. Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ.” Philippians 4:5-7 (TPT)
Deal kindly and honestly with every person you have to deal with.
Let your stand on every issue be known and clear to all.
