“O, my soul.”
“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” (Psalm 103:1-5) KJV
There will be moments in our lives when we don’t feel like praising and blessing God.
But our feelings should not determine whether or not we praise God. That’s why we find the psalmist is saying:
“O, my soul.”
He is urging himself to bless God!
After he has done this, he talks about God’s forgiveness.
What does the psalmist teach us about forgiveness?
Forgiveness comes from God alone.
In verses 3-5, he speaks about sorrows and blessings.
What is he talking about?
God will take away our sorrows.
Guilt is taken from us.
Diseases are healed.
We are no longer under the curse of destruction.
David is also talking about the blessings that God gives us
God’s favor
Tender mercies
Good things
Our God is amazing!
We have to trust Him!
Please remember these verses when you don’t feel like it
