In the name of the Lord…
“Then said David to the philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.” 1 Sam.17:45. (KJV).
David could not stand God being mocked.
Even though he was relatively young and small in stature compared to Goliath.
You do not have to be big and strong to serve God.
God needs a willing and trusting heart.
Are you comfortable where God is being mocked?
Can God rely on you to do His work?
Do you trust God to help you in your daily life?
Do you fear the onslaughts of daily life?
David could not understand why the strong soldiers of the Israelites were so scared of Goliath.
He could not understand why they allowed Goliath to defy God.
Will you be too scared to defend your faith in God?
When you stand up for God, He will defend His name through you.
“Then he answered and spoke unto me, saying, “This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ saith the Lord of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6
Application to the Christian life:
Be prepared to stand up for Jesus.
Be strong in faith to withstand mockery. Be a soldier for God.
He will protect and bless you.

How do you apply the Word of God?
“Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.” Mark 7:13. (KJV).
How do you handle the Word?
It comes with insight into what to do.
However, what it is asking you to do may appear conflicting.
That was the problem the Pharisees had.
TRADITION.
Do you have the same challenge today?
How often do you discuss the Word of God with your friends?
Do you always agree with the interpretation of each other?
You sometimes find it challenging to apply God’s Word in your daily life.
Do you find specific things interfere with your own ideas?
Be careful to adapt God’s Word to suit your own beliefs.
When Jesus came to this world, He changed everything, even certain things the Pharisees believed.
They stayed glued to Tradition.
Do not change the words of Jesus.
It is the Living Word.
It is still applicable today.
Instead, you align your life with the Word.
Application to the Christian life:
Obey the Word.
Do not follow your own mind.
Follow Jesus All the way…

Trust In God.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5. (KJV).
Obviously, as a child, you trusted your parents.
They were the natural default guide.
You possibly asked them for advice when you had a problem?
Maybe you still go to them?
Somehow as a person grows older, you trust your own abilities.
You do not ask for help anymore.
Your relationship with God is different.
You daily consistently trust Him.
You can never outgrow God.
Jesus as man depended entirely on God.
They were inseparable.
What is separating you from God?
In the Bible, we can see the help God gave those who trusted Him.
We also see the difference when somebody does not follow God. Ultimately, we cannot do anything without the help of God.
God is the One deciding what we can do or what we cannot do.
Do you think you can do something without the help of God?
No.
I don’t think so either.
Application to the Christian life:
Be humble.
Trust God to help you.
Ask His blessings.

God’s Name Is Holy.
“Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.” Exodus 20:7. (KJV).
Do not take the name of God in vain.
How often do you do this?
“Pastor, why are you bringing up old testament stuff?”
Do you joke around with the name of someone you love or highly respect?
However, during a conversation, you may exclaim: “oh, my God!” or when shocked or amazed at something:
You say something like: “Jesus, what is that!”
Were you talking to God or to your friend?
Why do you call God or Jesus’s name to something you don’t mean?
When you really need to call Him:
To answer you, guide you, and intervene
Is that name still reverently called?
“We live in the time of Grace, I hear you say.”
Yes, we do but look at the perfect example we have in our Lord Jesus Christ.
He did not call God anyhow, but He answered every time He called Him.
It was a relationship of Love, respect, and mutual understanding.
True, you can call Abba Father.
He will hear you.
God is holy, omnipotent, and mighty. Fear Him with godly fear.
Don’t laugh and joke using His Hallowed Name with your friends who don’t know him as their Lord and Saviour.
Don’t be comfortable where Jesus Christ is not honored and respected.
They are drawn to His Love and care depending on how they see you handle His Name.
Sometimes you know how people value a person they love, cherish and honor through how they talk and mention the name of the person.
Let someone meet God through how you use His name.
Application to the Christian life:
Honour God.
Do not use His name in vain.
Glorify and honor His name.

The Grieve in God’s Heart
“And it repented the Lord that He made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.” Gen.6:6.(KJV)
Why was God grieved when He saw the evil in mankind?
Was He sorry He made man on the earth?
I do not think God was sorry He made man.
He was disappointed that man was so evil.
God wanted to destroy everyone.
Noah was different from the other people. He was obedient to God.
For his sake, God decided to save mankind.
Noah built the ark and was saved.
Are you part of the evil mankind, or are you submissive to God as Noah?
Jesus Christ has come and shown us the perfect example to follow.
Daily we are making choices.
Are you choosing evil or good?
Only when you are in Christ Jesus can you consistently choose to follow God.
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” Jeremiah 17:9-10 (KJV)
Allow Jesus in your heart.
The Holy Spirit will enable you to make the right choices.
Application to the Christian life:
Serve God.
Obey Him.
Live according to His commandments even when your friends mock you.

God Cares For You.
“And as he lay and slept under a Juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.” 1Kings 19:5. (KJV).
Elijah was extremely tired.
He was despondent.
King Ahab did not listen to warnings.
His wife Jezebel threatened to kill Elijah.
Elijah ran and fell asleep under the juniper tree.
When he woke up, the angel comforted him and gave him food.
Are you being threatened?
Are you tired of serving the Lord?
Do you feel He has forsaken you?
“He does not hear my cry.”
God is watching you.
He knows everything.
He has the solution to your problems.
God will help you.
