But Amnon had a friend

But Amnon had a friend

But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David’s brother: and Jonadab was a very subtil man. 1 Samuel 13:3 (KJV)

What kind of friend do you have that consistently speak into your life?

Amnon one of King David’s sons had a “bestie” who was exceptionally streetwise. He confided in him he gave him a counsel that initially appeared smart, but at the end, it led to his death.

Watch out today that you are not surrounding yourself with people that appear popular and very sociable but their counsel for you may lead to your destruction.

Don’t fall into the peer pressure of hanging out with people that will give you counsel that will kill your God-given dreams.

“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.” Proverbs 13:20

Check out the antecedents of who speaks into your life.

Who are those who get your ear’s attention?

“So stop fooling yourselves! Evil companions will corrupt good morals and character “ 1 Corinthians 15:33 (TPT)

Watch out for the Jonadab around you and never take their counsel

“ How well God must like you-you don’t hang out at Sin Saloon, you don’t slink along Dead-End Road. You don’t go to Smart-Mouth College.” Psalm 1:1 (MSG)

Look for friends like Ruth to Naomi, Jonathan to David and Paul to Philemon.

What type of friend is speaking into your life today?

For thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.

“For thou art, my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.” Psalm 31:3

Indeed, God holds you firm and secure, and because of that you rest assured of HIS ability to watch over you and protect you at all times.

However, we need to know that all the moves we make are genuinely for His name’s sake.

The Psalmist knew that it’s about honoring God and doing everything because of God that he is assured of God’s all-around protection.

Can you say the same about all the assignments that you are doing today that it’s right for HIM?

Did God approve all your plans and the processes you are taking in carrying them out?

Is it about God or you?

Be reminded today that it is when you are doing those things that God has sent you that you can confidently claim the promise guaranteeing your all-around protection.

“And he said, Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD. ……” 2 Kings 10:16

Jehu at that point in his life was so sure he was carrying out God’s agenda.

Are all your actions (programs and activities) approved of God?

“You’re my cave to hide in, my cliff to climb. Be my safe leader, be my true mountain guide. Free me from hidden traps;  I want to hide in you. I’ve put my life in your hands. You won’t drop me. You’ll never let me down.” Psalm 31:3-5 (MSG)

HIS all-round protection is yours as long as you are doing what HE has assigned you to do.

Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.

Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.

Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us. 1 Samuel 7:12(KJV)

What are you using today as memory blocks of the significant events in your life?

In the above Scripture, Samuel used that stone as a reminder to Israel of the great deliverance God gave them from their enemies.

Earlier Jacob and Joshua had also set up monuments to remember their encounters with God.

Today you may not be setting up physical monuments to commemorate events in your life but what have you set up in your mind about some past issues in your life?

As your mind occasionally roams your past yield the pains and the joys that may come up entirely over to God.

The early patriarchs of faith used those monuments to move the people and the nation forward to achieve their God-given destiny.

As you reflect on significant milestones in your life ensure that your memory of those events is from God’s correct perspective of the development not solely on your human interpretation.

Love and forgiveness must essentially surround the memories in our lives.

UnForgiveness and hatred will continuously eat away your energy and make God’s ultimate purpose of making all those events that have happened in your life to work together for your good to be longer.

As you reflect on the past and evaluate today and position yourself for tomorrow, please do so from God’s perspective.

“Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled. When I was an infant at my mother’s breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good.

We don’t yet see things. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!” 1 Corinthians 13:9-12 (MSG)

As a nation, group or individual allow the LOVE of God to marinate your memory of past events, fill your hearts with Peace and Joy today.

Your Hope based on your real knowledge of HIM gives the assurance that your tomorrow is undoubtedly going to be better.

Eateth not the bread of idleness.

Eateth not the bread of idleness.

“She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.” Proverbs 31:27 (KJV)

There are several great things the King Lemuel’s mother taught him about the virtuous woman and today we are reminding ourselves about one of those virtues that apply to both men and women.

“She looks well to how things go in her household, and the bread of idleness (gossip, discontent, and self-pity) she will not eat.”

The bread of idleness as defined by this verse of the scripture consists of gossip, discontent, and self-pity.

A child of God does not get involved in gossip in any shape or form. As carriers of the good news of the kingdom, you cannot carry along the contraband scandal with the Kingdoms business that God has assigned to you.

“But godliness with contentment is great gain.” 1Timothy 6:6 (KJV)

This verse encourages you to be content with what you have.

It does not mean that you should not aim higher in every realm of life but avoid every spirit of discontentment in your lifestyle.

Contend only for the faith and stop causing dissatisfactions, quarrels, and confusion in the relationships you are in because of your idleness.

Say good things that build up with your mouth.

Self-pity is one of the weapons of the enemy to make you disqualify yourself from the rich inheritance you have in Christ Jesus.

The enemy will always want you to see the weakness of your life and will not tell you that Jesus already paid the price with HIS own life that all those things you or somebody else is telling you that you are not having are all yours in the Kingdom inheritance.

“For God will never give you the spirit of fear  but the Holy Spirit who gives you mighty power, love, and self-control.”

2 Timothy 1:7 (TPT)

Resolve today that you will not eat the bread of idleness involving gossip, discontent, and self-pity. Jesus is the True Bread of life that you should partake.

The fire must be kept burning on the altar at all times

The fire must be kept burning on the altar at all times

“Remember, the fire must be kept burning on the altar at all times. It must never go out. “ Leviticus 6:13 (NLT)

Your surrendered heart to God is the present altar for HIM.

Is the fire for HIM still burning in your heart?

God instructed Aaron and the priests to make sure that the fire on the altar in the temple never goes out.

How is your love for Him in your heart today?

Do you still with fervency desire HIS Presence in all that you do each day?

Do you still love to read God’s word?

Do you still love not just to pray but keeping the conversation with God going on in your heart?

How long do you chat with your “friends” on the different social media platforms and how much time do you talk with God?

Does the fire of God in your heart guide you in what you see with your eyes and hear with your ears?

“Be enthusiastic to serve the Lord, keeping your passion toward him boiling! Radiate with the glow of the Holy Spirit and let him fill you with excitement as you help him.

Let this hope burst forth within you, releasing a continual joy. Don’t give up in a time of trouble, but commune with God at all times.

Take a constant interest in the needs of God’s beloved people and respond by helping them. And eagerly welcome people as guests into your home.”  Romans 12 “11-13 (TPT)

Let the burning fire for God guide the choices that you make in your life today.

The fire shall be burning continually upon the altar; it shall not go out.
