The Delight of my Father

The Delight of my Father

“For I, too, was once the delight of my father and cherished by my mother, their beloved child. Then my father taught me, saying,  “Never forget my words.  If you do everything that I teach you, you will reign in life.”  Proverbs 4:3-4 (TPT)

Most often when a child is doing very well, he or she is delightful to the parents.

Jesus remains the delight of God.

“But while Peter was still speaking, a radiant cloud composed of light spread over them, enveloping them all. And God’s voice suddenly spoke from the cloud, saying, “This is my dearly loved Son, the constant focus of my delight. Listen to him!”  Matthew 17:5 (TPT)

What made Jesus be the delight of God is that He constantly and consistently listened and did what His father asked Him to do.

“This is because I have never spoken on My own authority or of My own accord or as self-appointed, but the Father Who sent Me has Himself given Me orders [concerning] what to say and what to tell.” John 12:49 (AMPC)

To remain delightful to God your heavenly Father, you have to follow what Jesus did.

Who is giving you orders concerning what you are doing?

Who is giving you orders in what you are saying and telling?

King Solomon in our text today gave a clue that as you wholly embrace Wisdom from God, you will Reign and Rule in this life’s assignments.

Jesus is that  Wisdom of God that the book of Proverbs talks about.

Immerse yourself in Him, and you will be the delight of the Father.
