Wrong Attitudes About Sin – Part 1.
“And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent. And Samuel said unto him, The Lord hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou. And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent. Then he said, I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship the Lordthy God. So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped the Lord.” (1 Samuel 15:27-31) KJV
God created us perfectly.
Through Adam, we are all born into sin.
Saul didn’t know the gravity of sin.
His attitude about sin was totally wrong:
“I’m not guilty,”
Saul tried to hide the reality.
He acted as if nothing wrong had happened.
He who denies sin with or without knowledge is saying that:
“God doesn’t know all things.
He doesn’t really see everything I do, or He doesn’t really hear everything I say.” “God is changeable and not staying besides His Word.”
“He said to annihilate all the Amalekites, but He will be glad to hear how clever we were.”
“We kept the best for the sacrifices.”
You could think that not all God says is wrong is really wrong.
Don’t deceive yourself!.
“The man of God doesn’t know many things. Even though Samuel will come, he will not understand a thing about those sheep.”
“It will seem normal to him.
The man of God could be compromised.”
” If I have to, I will convince Samuel that we, not God, had the right.”
“He will consider that we are the smart ones. “
“The people who know our sin will keep it secret.”
This is the devil’s voice.
Which tries to convince you to hide the sin.
If he keeps it secret in your life.
He will keep it until Judgement Day.
On that day, there will not be anything to hide.
“For nothing is hidden that will not be disclosed, nothing is covered up that will not be known and come out into the open.” Luke 8:17(CJB)
Are you still thinking like Saul did?
What sin are you hiding from God?
Don’t trust his voice, but trust God!
Application for the Christian life:
Take sin seriously.
Listen to God’s voice and not to Satan. Do not keep secrets from God.
He knows everything.
